EgGS 2018 Prep-Pro Workshop

The Preparing to be a Professional workshop (Prep-Pro) provides girls with opportunities to engage in question-oriented discussions with successful STEM professional women. The professionals serve as role models sharing insights and strategies students can use to define their own career path. It’s a personal and engaging experience helping students prepare for life after high school in fields traditionally dominated by men.

Prep-Pro simulates a professional association meeting providing students time to speak with STEM professional women from a range of careers. Small round-table discussions focus on building networks, asking effective questions to be heard, dealing with gender bias, and exploring strategies to advocate for oneself. Conversations include tips on how to gain the most from one’s college experience. It is also a chance to meet girls who share similar academic and professional interests.
